The new store spreads on a 4,000 sq m area and will sell goods covering 60 sports, Decathlon said in a press release. The store is located in the Baneasa area, in northern Bucharest, near an IKEA store and the Baneasa Shopping City mall.
On December 24, Belgian owned-retailer Mega Image Romania opened its fourth and biggest concept store in the same location, as part of a joint venture project started in July with Decathlon.
Decathlon is present in Romania since 2009 and operates 13 stores. It posted a 9.8 million lei ($2.4 million/2.2 million euro) profit in 2014, from 2.3 million lei in 2013, on a 309 million lei turnover, up 32% from previous year, data posted on the finance ministry's website show.
