Frustration with widespread corruption has spilled into mass anti-government rallies in Albania and Serbia, two states whose leaders have had a strong grip on power for over a decade, but it is still unclear if they will bring a real political change, analysts say.
Albania's economy minister Delina Ibrahimaj on Friday said the government has decided to dissolve a board set up in March to control fuel prices amid volatility on global markets caused by the war in the Middle East.
Albania's finance ministry will offer 7.5 billion leks ($90.65 million/79.3 million euro) worth of one-year Treasury bills at an auction on June 23, the central bank said.
Newly registered vehicles in Albania totalled 38,915 in the first five months, a 2.3% rise compared to the same period of last year, the country's road transport directorate, GDRTS, said.
Albania's finance ministry on Wednesday sold 2.15 billion leks ($26.1 million/22.7 million euro) worth of fixed-rate Treasury notes maturing in 2031, failing to meet its 3.5 million euro target, the central bank said.
