Romania's consolidated budget was in deficit equivalent to 4.57% of the gross domestic product (GDP) in the first eight months of 2024, widening from a 2.63% gap a year earlier, as spending increased by 22.5% to 456.63 billion lei ($102.36 billion/91.77 billion euro), the finance ministry said on Friday.
Slovenia had a general government deficit of 390 million euro ($435 million), equivalent to 2.3% of the projected 2024 gross domestic product (GDP) in the second quarter of the year, the statistical office said on Friday.
The Slovenian government said it adopted on Thursday an amended budget plan for next year and a budget draft for 2026, with deficit projected at 2.6% and 1.6% of the planned gross domestic product (GDP), respectively.
Romania's government has approved a revision to the 2024 budget plan, increasing the deficit target to 6.9% of economic output from the initial 5% to support major investment projects, prime minister Marcel Ciolacu said.
