Bosnia's GDP grows 2.7% y/y in Q1 - first estimate

July 1 (SeeNews) - The gross domestic product (GDP) of Bosnia and Herzegovina grew by a real 2.7% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2024, following a revised annual increase of 1.7% in the previous quarter and a 1.7% rise in the first quarter of 2023, the country's statistical office said.

On a quarterly comparison basis, GDP expanded by 0.9% in seasonally-adjusted terms in the January-March period, after it rose by 0.6% in the three months through December and increased by 0.3% in the first three months of 2023, the statistical office said in a first estimate made using the expenditure approach on Friday.

Observed by categories of GDP by expenditure approach, in the first quarter of 2024 compared to the same quarter of the previous year, real increase was recorded in following categories: household final consumption expenditure 2.7%, general government consumption expenditure 2.1%, gross capital formation 49.8% and import of goods and services 1.3% while real decrease was recorded only in export of goods and services 14.9%.
