The plant will manufacture armoured vehicles and drones for rescue, reconnaissance and emergency operations, as well as military evacuation cranes and light patrol vehicles according to NATO standards, IAG said in a press release on Monday.
Additionally, IAG is working on the development of wheeled and tracked robots and is in the process of engineering armoured platforms for light artillery systems.
The plant spreads on an area of 150,000 square metres in the industrial zone of Burgas and is expected to initially create 50 new jobs, which will grow to over 300 as production unfolds. Construction of the plant which began in September was carried out by Glavbolgarstroy-Plovdiv.
In March 2023, IAG said it plans to expand its manufacturing capacity in Bulgaria with two plants for armoured vehicles, each commanding an estimated initial investment of 25 million levs, in the cities of Blagoevgrad and Plovdiv.
IAG, owned by Bulgarian national Anton Stefov, employs over 1,000 staff worldwide. It has production facilities in the U.S., Canada, the United Arab Emirates and Turkey.
