Bulgaria's 5-mo new passenger car registrations grow 37% y/y - ACEA

In May alone, the number of newly registered passenger cars in Bulgaria rose by 1.8% year-on-year to 3,226, ACEA said in a press release.

In January-May, the highest annual increase was reported in plug-in hybrid vehicle registrations, at 125% to 216 units, followed by hybrid electric cars with a 62.1% jump to 363 units.

Battery electric vehicles (EVs), on the other hand, posted a yearly decline in registrations of 2.3% to 726 units.

Petrol was the most popular fuel type for newly registered cars in Bulgaria in the first five months of this year, with 13,486 units, followed by diesel cars, with 4,156 units.

In the EU, new passenger car registrations climbed by 4.6% on the year to 4.59 million units in the five months through May and went down 3% to 911,697 units in May alone.
