Bosnia's BH Telecom gross profit up 37% y/y in Q1

June 28 (SeeNews) - Bosnia’s state-controlled BH Telecom [SAJ:BHTS] said it booked a gross profit of 13.6 million marka ($7.4 million/7 million euro) in the first quarter of 2024, up 37% year-on-year.

The company's earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) margin came in at 27.5% in the first quarter, up 2.2% compared with the first three months of 2023, BH Telecom said in a press release on Thursday.

The company also said it will distribute a total amount of 70 million marka as dividend for 2023, out of which some 63 million marka will go to the majority shareholder, the government of the Federation, and the remaining 7 million marka is intended for the smaller shareholders.

BH Telecom's shares last traded on the Sarajevo bourse on June 26, when they closed 2.60% lower at 13.74 marka.

BH Telecom is the largest of three telecommunications companies operating in Bosnia, which comprises two autonomous entities, the Federation and the Serb Republic.

BH Telecom is based in Bosnia's capital Sarajevo and has its customers mainly in the Federation. The company offers fixed and mobile voice services and Internet access.

The other two Bosnian telcos are HT Mostar, which is active in the Federation, and Telekom Srpske which operates in the Serb Republic.
