Serbia introduces 30-day arms exports ban

July 17 (SeeNews) - Serbia will introduce a ban on exports of arms and military equipment for 30 days to further strengthen the capacities of the country and its armed forces, the government said.

"Our assessment at this time is that commercial deals cannot have priority over the security of the country,” defence minister Milos Vucevic was quoted as saying in a government statement on Friday.

The decision was adopted at the proposal of Serbia's president and commander-in-chief, Aleksandar Vucic.

After 30 days, the government will review the situation and decide whether to lift the ban.
