The number of online purchase transactions in the local dinar currency rose 31.3% on the year to 10.7 million, while their value increased by an annual 32.7% to 30.5 billion dinars (284 million/265 million euro) in the first three months of 2024, NBS said in a statement last week.

As far as foreign websites are concerned, the number of euro transactions jumped by an annual 50% to 3.1 million in the first quarter of the year, generating a total value of 133 million euro ($143 million), up by an annual 33%.

Similarly, the number of online payments in US dollars rose 33% on the year to 2 million, while their value was up 29% to $47.8 million in January-March.

The statistics do not include cash-on-delivery payments as NBS does not collect such data.
