ZAGREB (Croatia), July 28 (SeeNews) –Croatia's fixed internet and pay-TV services provider OT-Optima Telekom [ZSE:OPTE] reported on Wednesday a consolidated net loss of 220,000 kuna ($34,600/29,300 euro) for the first half of 2021, compared to a net loss of 1.7 million kuna in the same period of last year, as second-quarter net profit rose 84.7% on the year to 4.4 million kuna.

In the first six months of 2021, Optima Telekom's operating revenue was 0.5% lower year-on-year at 224.2 million kuna, following an annual increase by 2.5% to 115.7 million kuna in the second quarter, the company said in a consolidated unaudited financial statement filed to the Zagreb bourse.

Details follow (in millions of kuna):

H1 2021 H1 2020 Q2 2021 Q2 2020
Total operating revenue 224.2 225.3 115.7 112.9
Total operating costs 151.1 152.5 74.8 75
EBIT 10.9 13.5 9.8 7.9

On July 9, Dutch-based multi-play and media provider United Group signed a deal with Hrvatski Telekom and Zagrebacka Banka to acquire a 54.31% stake in Optima Telekom for an undisclosed sum. The closing of the deal depends on an expected change in Croatia’s Electronic Media Act, which now prohibits vertical integration between pay-TV broadcasters and distributors. The deal is also conditional upon approval by relevant competition authorities.

Optima Telekom's shares traded 0.61% lower at 4.87 kuna on the Zagreb bourse intraday on Wednesday .
