In comparison, Greece registered the highest unemployment rate among EU members in SEE and second-highest in the EU, at 10.6%, preceded only by Spain with 11.7%, the EU's statistical office said in a monthly data release on Tuesday.
All other three EU states in SEE, Bulgaria, Croatia and Romania, posted unemployment rates below the bloc's average of 6% in the month under review, at 4.4%, 5.3% and 5.4%, respectively.
At the same time, all countries in the SEE region but Bulgaria marked annual declines in their jobless rates in May, with Croatia marking the biggest one, at 0.8 percentage points (pp). In comparison, Bulgaria's unemployment rate remained unchanged year-on-year.
