Billa Bulgaria opens 56th store in Sofia

November 2 (SeeNews) - Supermarket chain operator Billa Bulgaria, part of Germany's REWE Group, said on Thursday that it has opened a new store in the capital, following an investment of over 2 million levs ($1.1 million/1 million euro).

The new store will create up to 30 new jobs, Billa Bulgaria said in a press release.

Located in the southwestern Knyazhevo residential quarter near Vitosha mountain, the new supermarket brings the retailer's store count in Sofia to a total of 56.

The Austria-based supermarket chain operator has been active in Bulgaria since 2000. Billa Bulgaria currently employs over 5,200 staff in 152 stores across the country.

Last month, Billa Bulgaria opened its first proximity store under the Billa Today concept in the northeastern town of Dobrich.
