Sarajevo Canton plans new call for 2025 flight subsidies - report

The new call will aim to subsidise new flights to Amsterdam, Berlin, Barcelona, Copenhagen, Dusseldorf, Eindhoven, Hamburg, Madrid, Paris, Strasbourg and Verona, aviation portal Zamaero reported.

The subsidies call is expected to help the airport reach 2 million passengers in 2025, according to the media report.

Passenger numbers at the Sarajevo International Airport came in at 1.36 million in 2023, slightly down compared with 1.38 million a year earlier.

The Tourism Association of the Sarajevo Canton launched its previous call for airline subsidies for 2024 flights in January.

The Sarajevo Canton is one of ten cantons making up the Federation, one of two autonomous entities that form Bosnia and Herzegovina. The other entity is the Serb Republic.
