Compared to May 2023, Romania's jobless rate was 0.1 percentage points lower, the statistical office said in a monthly report.
Registered unemployed in Romania numbered 452,100 in May, up from 443,600 in April and 443,200 in May of last year.
The jobless rate among women in May was 5.3% versus 5.5% among men.
The unemployment rate among adults aged between 25 and 74 was estimated at 4.4%. Adults aged 25 to 74 who were jobless in May accounted for 77.4% of all unemployed people. Unemployment among people aged 15 to 24 remained high, at 20.5%.
Romania had a workforce of 8.15 million people in 2023, down from 8.27 million in 2022.
