The certification of the Caransebes unit as an organic feed factory is expected to be finalised next month. The unit will operate under a new entity called Agroland Organic, the company said in a statement filed with the Bucharest Stock Exchange, BVB.
The organic feed production will be sold to organic laying hen and organic broiler farms. Additionally, sales will be made to small breeders through a network of over 240 Agroland stores, the company said.
The company also plans to acquire a small organic egg farm with a capacity of around 10,000 hens, aiming to produce about 3 million organic eggs annually. In the coming months, the company will also certify its own organic farm in Timis county, which can house up to 10,000 hens.
Agroland will also introduce a new line of business involving modular slaughterhouses for poultry and rabbits, which will also be suitable for organic chickens requiring special processing conditions.
Agroland was founded in 1997. Earlier this month, the company opened its 25th Agroland MEGA store in Romania, in the northeastern county of Iasi, it said in a filing to the BVB.
