"Thanks to the work of the provincial government and the development agency of Vojvodina and the constant presence at major investment fairs, the Japanese company Nidec is coming to Novi Sad," Mirovic said in his Instagram profile on Saturday.
Nidec Corporation considering the opening of about 100 jobs at the factory, which will be located in the industrial zone of Novi Sad, he added.
The Japanese company plans to invest between 500 million euro ($593 million) and 1 billion euro in the construction of the factory but has still not made a final decision on its location, Serbian media quoted the mayor of Novi Sad, Milos Vucevic, as saying on Friday.
"Next week, a high-level delegation is expected to come from Japan to Belgrade and Novi Sad. Novi Sad is one of the potential cities in Europe where they are considering investing. No other city in Serbia is our competition, but there are other cities in Europe. The state, the province and the city of Novi Sad have given a serious offer and guarantees that we want to see such an investment," Vucevic added.
Nidec Corporation, listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, is a producer of electric motors used in hard-disk drives, electric appliances, automobiles and commercial and manufacturing equipment.
