The number of tourist overnights in June rose 82% on the year to 6.5 million, the office said in a statement.
In June 2021, tourist arrivals stood at 47% and tourist overnights equalled 50% of overnights in the record pre-pandemic 2019, it added.
The number of domestic tourists reached 275,000 in June, up 76% on the year, while the number of overnights by domestic tourists rose to 854,000, up by 87% on the year. Compared to June 2019, domestic tourist arrivals rose 10.8% and overnights increased 5.3% in June.
Foreign tourists in June totalled 1.1 million, up 71% on the year, and the number of overnights by foreign tourists rose 81% on the year to 5.7 million. Foreign tourist arrivals in June accounted for 41% of arrivals, while foreign tourists overnights stood at 46% of the foreign tourists overnights in June 2019.
In 2020, foreign tourist arrivals to the Adriatic country dropped 68% year-on-year to 5.55 million due to the coronavirus crisis.
Tourism is a key industry for the Croatian economy, contributing a fifth of the country's GDP.
