January 10 (SeeNews) - Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport believes its ongoing expansion will provide new opportunities for the development of its long-haul network and further support for flag carrier Air Serbia, regional media reported.
“Air Serbia’s hub strategy is aligned with Belgrade Airport’s efforts to support long-haul traffic. Of course, we are in constant talks with all the companies that could potentially serve the existing demand for intercontinental flights,” Belgrade Airport was quoted as saying by news portal EX-YU Aviation on Monday.
Belgrade Airport said that major infrastructure works are aimed at supporting traffic growth, with an importance placed on finding new markets and improving existing ones.
Last week, Belgrade Airport introduced a revised incentive policy that incorporates discounts for the commencement of new long-haul flights.
Air Serbia and China’s Hainan Airlines currently operate operate four year-round long-haul routes from Belgrade to New York and Chicago in the USA, and Beijing, and Tianjin, in China.
