June 26 (SeeNews) - Slovenia's net electricity production increased by 47% month-on-month to 1,299 GWh in May, the statistical office said on Monday.

In annual terms, the country's power output was up by 2%, the office of statistics said in a statement, citing provisional data.

The May output of the country's hydropower plants went up 17% monthly and 6% yearly to 602 GWh.

The output of the thermal power plants in Slovenia totalled 111 GWh in May, down 55% on the year and 21% month-on-month, while Slovenia's sole nuclear power plant Krsko produced 472 GWh of electricity.

In May, Slovenia imported 761 GWh of electricity and exported 1,040 GWh. Exports grew 42% compared to the previous month, while imports decreased 18%.

On an annual comparison basis, imports grew 2% and exports went up 6%.

Hydro energy had the largest share of 46.3% in Slovenia's total power production in May, followed by nuclear with 36.3%, solar and wind power with 8.8% and thermal power with 8.5%.
