The Albanian banking sector's outstanding loan portfolio rose to 580.3 billion leks from 558.7 billion leks at the end of April 2019, AAB said in a monthly report earlier this week, citing data of the country's central bank.
The ratio of problem loans to total loans dropped to 8.28% from 11.46%.
Deposits in Albanian banks increased to 1,216 billion leks at the end of April from 1,148 billion leks a year earlier.
The total assets of Albania’s banking system rose to 1,510 billion leks from 1,421 billion leks.
Return on assets (ROA) too halved - to 0.62 billion leks from 1.31 billion leks. Return on equity also fell, to 5.28 billion leks from 12.14 billion leks.
The figures comprise the financial results of 12 Albanian banks. The largest by assets is Banka Kombetare Tregtare (BKT).
