June 17 (SeeNews) - Croatia’s state-owned motorway management company Hrvatske Autoceste (HAC) said on Monday it has selected a consortium led by Croatian civil engineering company RENCON and comprising five Slovenian peers as winner in a public tender for the design of a second bridge linking the mainland to the northern Adriatic island of Krk.

The price that the consortium offered is 478,750 euro ($513,000), or 598,437 euro if value added tax is included, HAC said in a statement. The offer meets the criteria of the tender and has been assessed as economically most favourable.

The Slovenian companies in the consortium are Lineal, IRGO Consulting, Ponting, Pipenbaher lnzenjerij and Gradis BP Maribor.

HAC said earlier that seven bids were submitted in the tender.

The 850-metre bridge will be built close to an existing one, in Croatia's Omisalj municipality, to alleviate growing traffic, especially during the high tourist season.

($ = 0.933 euro)
