June 2 (SeeNews) - Telecommunications company A1 Bulgaria and Southeast Europe-active cyber protection services provider Acronis said on Wednesday that they joined forces in creating a cloud data centre in Sofia.
Among the solutions offered by the new data centre, is Acronis Cyber Protect - a platform for backup, data recovery, protection against malware, and cybersecurity, Ivan Doudin, regional sales director Balkans and Turkey at Acronis, told a news conference.
Those solutions are designed to benefit every type of business, regardless of its capacity - from banks to e-shops, Doudin added. He noted that after the coronavirus pandemic broke out, not only bigger companies have been a target for cyberattacks, but also small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Acronis chose the data centre of A1 Bulgaria for the colocation of the latest of its 111 cloud data centres which serves the region of Eastern Europe, the two companies said in a joint press release.
Acronis' IT infrastructure will be hosted in the A1 data center to provide faster access, higher reliability, and data protection for both A1 and Acronis partners and service providers worldwide. Through the cloud data center, Acronis provides business partners such as A1 with a cybersecurity platform and comprehensive ICT solutions which they can offer to end customers.
Acronis, founded in 2003, is active in cyber protection and hybrid cloud storage technology. Enhanced by AI-based Active Protection technology, blockchain-based authentication and hybrid-cloud architecture, Acronis protects all data in any environment, including physical, virtual, cloud, mobile workloads and applications. Acronis has a research and development centre in Sofia, a core one for the company, where it plans to hire 1,000 people by the end of 2022 from around 400 at present.
A1 Bulgaria is part of telecommunications group A1 Telekom Austria.
