October 17 (SeeNews) - Italian upholstered furniture manufacturer Italia Living plans to open a factory in Vranje, in southern Serbia, the city government has said.
The company intends to open 50 jobs at the factory this year and to hire a total of 100 employees during the first phase of its development, the Vranje city government said in a statement on Thursday.
Italia Living has chosen Vranje because of the competitive advantages of the city in the timber industry, compared to other cities in Serbia, the general manager of the Italian company, Piero Carbonara, said at a meeting with Vranje mayor Slobodan Milenkovic.
The estimated value of the investment was not disclosed.
Italia Living, based in the province of Bari, is active in the production of sofas, armchairs, recliners and poufs.
