EBRD approves 5 mln euro loan to Bosnia's Sparkasse Bank to back SMEs

June 12 (SeeNews) - The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) said on Wednesday it has approved the provision of a senior unsecured loan of up to 5 million euro ($5.4 million) to Sparkasse Bank [SAJ:ABSB], the Bosnian unit of Austrian group Steiermaerkische Sparkasse, to back local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

The loan will be provided under the FIF SME Go Green Programme for on-lending to SMEs to boost competitiveness and trade by investing in sustainability, quality standards, and green initiatives, the EBRD said in a project summary document.

The bank will aim to deliver at least 70% of the proceeds to Green Economy Transition (GET) eligible projects.

Sparkasse Bank's shares have not traded on the SASE in the past year.
