Bulgarian Furniture Retailer Aiko Eyes 12% Market Share by 2016

SOFIA (Bulgaria), October 4 (SeeNews) – Bulgarian furniture retailer Aiko said it plans to raise its market share to 12% over the next five years from the current 8.0% as it embarks on an ambitious expansion of its store network.

The company plans to invest 117 million levs ($79 million/59.8 million euro) to open one new store each in Sofia, Varna and Plovdiv by the end of 2016, Aiko said in a statement on Monday.

The planned investments will boost the company's total retail space to 79,800 square meters (sq m).

Aiko also plans to increase the number of its employees by 240 from the current 370.

Since its inception in 1993, Aiko (www.aiko-bg.com) has invested over 94.6 million levs total in four showrooms - two in Sofia and one each in Stara Zagora and Burgas, and a 53,000 sq m logistics center.
