Turkey’s Fortis to develop 509 MW wind projects in Serbia

The projects are planned to be completed by 2028, Fortis Energy said in a LinkedIn post last week.

The project includes the 194.4 MW Gornjak wind farm, in the east of the country, as well as the 171 MW Vranje and 144 MW Juhor wind farms, in southern Serbia.

Feasibility studies for the projects are nearing completion. Once launched, the wind farms will provide 1.5 billion kWh of electricity per year, enough to power 750,000 households.

In January, Fortis Energy said it is developing solar, wind, biogas, and green hydrogen energy projects with a total capacity of up to 2 GW across four countries in the Balkan region.

Fortis Energy is owned by Istanbul-based UCK Holding, which focuses on renewable and clean energy investments. It operates in Turkey, the Netherlands and the Balkans, with a focus on solar, wind, biogas, geothermal, and green hydrogen investments.
