Turkey’s Fortis Energy eyes 2 GW in Balkan green projects

Fortis Energy has planned renewable capacities of 1034.8 MW in Serbia, 644 MW in Albania, 252 MW in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and 40.6 MW in North Macedonia, the company said in a social media post last week.

The company aims to complete the projects within the next five years.

In December, the company revealed three wind projects under development in the cities of Jagodina, Petrovac, and Vranje in Serbia with a total capacity of 481 MW, which are expected to be completed by 2026.

Last year, the company also unveiled plans for four renewable energy projects in the cities of Fier, Erseka, Klos and Lezha in Albania.

In North Macedonia, Fortis Energy has completed the installation of an 80 MW solar power plant in the western village of Osmelej and the construction of a 9.9 MW solar power plant in the central city of Prilep, it said in December.

Fortis Energy is owned by Istanbul-based UCK Holding, which focuses on renewable and clean energy investments.
