Hotels in big cities were most affected by the crisis, whereas the spa and mountain resorts experienced a boom in demand, Matic said, as quoted in a statement by the Serbian government.

The Serbian government provided a total of 10.5 million euro in financial aid to 312 hotels in the country, or 350 euro per bed and 150 euro per accomodation unit, Matic also said.

Earlier this week, the Serbian government approved a 150 million dinars support package for travel agencies.

The number of foreign tourists who visited Serbia in the first nine months of 2020 declined 75% to 354,008, according to data from the country's statistical office.

The number of domestic tourists decreased by 22% on the year to 1,110,656 in the first nine months of 2020.
