April 10 (SeeNews) - Serbia's economic output grew by a real 4.4% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2024, exceeding expectations, President Aleksandar Vucic said, citing a preliminary estimate.
In February, Serbia's economy grew by 5.9% thanks to a large increase in industrial production, Vucic said during a visit to France, as seen in a video published on his YouTube profile on Tuesday.
Gross domestic product (GDP) expanded by an annual 3.8% in the last quarter of 2023.
In January, Serbia’s economy grew by an annual 3.8%, mainly due to the contributions of the ICT and business service sectors.
In February, Serbia’s government said it expects the country’s economy to expand by 3.5% in 2024.
Last year, the Serbian economy expanded by an estimated 2.5% at constant prices, equal to the revised growth rate recorded in 2022, the country's statistical office said earlier this month, quoting preliminary data.
