Romania's residential building permits down 5.7% y/y in Jan-Feb

March 29 (SeeNews) - The number of building permits for residential projects issued in Romania in the first two months of 2024 fell 5.7% year-on-year, to 4,385, the national statistics office said on Friday.

In February alone, Romania issued 2,556 residential building permits, of which 69.5% were for projects in rural areas, the statistics office, INS, said in a data release.

Residential building permits issued in February declined by an annual 0.6% and climbed by 39.7% on a monthly comparison basis.

Non-residential permits totalled 510 in February, up by an annual 2.2% and 37.5% more than a month earlier.

Residential building permits issued in February decreased on an annual comparison basis in the Centre, North-West, and South-East development regions, while growth was registered in the Bucharest-Ilfov, South-Muntenia, South-West Oltenia, West, and North-East regions.

Romania issued 34,646 building permits for residential projects in 2023, down 20.6% year-on-year.
