February 1 (SeeNews) - The number of building permits for residential projects issued in Romania in 2023 fell 20.6% year-on-year, to 34,646, the national statistics office said on Thursday.
In December alone, Romania issued 2,550 residential building permits, of which 69.3% were for projects in rural areas, the statistics office, INS, said in a data release.
Residential building permits issued in December declined by an annual 5.2% and by 5.6% on a monthly comparison basis.
Non-residential permits totalled 465 in December, down by an annual 17.7% and 11.6% less than a month earlier.
Residential building permits issued in December decreased on an annual comparison basis in the South East, North West, South Muntenia and Centre development regions, while registering increases in the country's other four regions.
INS provided no figure for the value of the projects that were granted permits in December and in 2023.
In 2022, Romania issued 43,660 building permits for residential projects, down 15% year-on-year.
