March 25 (SeeNews) - Romania’s road infrastructure company, CNAIR, has launched a tender worth between 3.4 billion lei ($739.7 million/683.7 million euro) and 3.9 billion lei for the construction of a segment of the Arad-Oradea expressway, data published on the country's public procurement portal, SEAP, showed.
The tender targets the construction of a 39.7 km lot on the expressway connecting the western cities of Arad and Oradea, CNAIR said in a tender notice published on SEAP on Friday.
Bidders may submit offers until May 9, while works must be completed within 24 months, covered by a minimum warranty period of 60 months.
The road infrastructure company launched two previous tenders worth up to 7.1 billion lei for the construction of the expressway’s two other segments in February, according to tender notices published at the time.
The expressway will span 120.5 km, with the construction of its three lots being worth an estimated 8.5 billion lei, the country’s transportation minister Sorin Grindeanu said in a broadcast of a press conference in February.
The construction of the expressway is financed through funds from Romania’s Transport Programme (PoT) 2021-2027, a 9.6 billion euro EU-backed programme financed through non-refundable European funds and the state budget.
The expressway is part of the Three Seas Initiative, an EU and U.S.-promoted scheme that aims to boost investment, infrastructure development and energy security among the countries bordering the Baltic, Black, and Adriatic seas.
