June 3 (SeeNews) - Kosovo’s energy ministry said it has signed a concession contract with a consortium led by Swiss-based construction group Orllati for the development of a 100-MW solar plant, which will see the consortium invest 70 million euro ($76 million) in the project.

A leasing contract was signed, allowing the companies to use state-owned land to develop the project, as well as a power purchase agreement (PPA) with the country’s power grid operator KOSTT, the ministry said in a press release last week.

The tie-up comprising Orllati, Switzerland’s energy company Holdigaz, Germany’s renewable developer ZPV and Kosovo’s Jaha Solar won the government’s first solar power auction with a price at 48.88 euro per MWh in March.

The auction winners were offered a 30-year concession contract including leasing of an area in Rahovec, in southwestern Kosovo, and a 15-year power purchase agreement with the power grid operator.

The area designated for the project covers about 117 hectares, the ministry said in its press release.

In February, energy minister Artane Rizvanolli said that the auction is the first in a two-year plan involving competitive bidding for 950 MW of renewable energy projects worth 1.2 billion euro.
