April 2 (SeeNews) - Kosovo’s energy ministry said a consortium led by Swiss-based construction group Orllati has won the government’s first solar power auction with a price at 48.88 euro ($52.43) per MWh.
Five bidders vied in the auction, including a tie-up between Turkish diverse groups Calik Group and Limak Holding, France's Akuo Energy, Egyptian electrical company Elsewedy Electric, and a consortium of Turkey’s renewables developer Guris İnsaat and Muhendislik, the ministry said in a press release last week.
The winning bidder is awarded a 30-year concession contract to develop a 100 MW photovoltaic (PV) plant in a leased area in Rahovec, in southwestern Kosovo, and a 15-year power purchase agreement, the ministry has said.
The consortium is expected to invest 70 million euro in the project, prime minister Albin Kurti said in a pre-auction speech, as seen in a social media video.
In February, energy minister Artane Rizvanolli said that the auction is the first in a two-year plan involving competitive bidding for 950MW of renewable energy projects worth 1.2 billion euro.
Orllati was established in Switzerland by Kosovo migrants, according to Kosovo’s economy ministry. The group registered a subsidiary in Kosovo in 2023, according to the country’s business register.
