Net equity investment, including the estimated net reinvestment of earnings, totalled 2.33 billion euro in the first quarter of this year, while net intercompany lending amounted to negative 235 million euro, the central bank said in a balance of payments report, citing provisional data.
In March alone, FDI in Romania totalled 866 million euro, up from 607 million euro recorded in the year-ago period.
The number of new businesses with foreign capital established in the first three months of 2024 in Romania decreased by 7.4% on the year to 1,675, according to data published by the National Trade Register Office.

In 2023, FDI in Romania totalled 6.587 billion euro, down 34% on 2022.
