February 13 (SeeNews) - Foreign direct investment (FDI) in Romania fell to 6.587 billion euro ($7.099 billion) last year, from 10.039 billion euro in 2022, the country's central bank said on Tuesday.
Net equity investment, including the estimated net reinvestment of earnings, totalled 6.548 billion euro in the twelve months through December, while net intercompany lending amounted to 39 million euro, the central bank said in a balance of payments report, citing provisional data.
The number of new businesses with foreign capital established in 2023 in Romania decreased by 4.9% on the year to 7,368, according to data published by the Trade Office Registry.
FDI in Romania totalled 8.94 billion euro in 2021.
