September 13 (SeeNews) - The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will finance improvements of Bosnia's Banja Luka water supply network through a loan of 4 million euro ($4.4 million), the bank said on Friday.
The loan is part of a wider 10 million euro investment programme by the Banja Luka municipality intended for rehabilitation and expansion of its water and sewerage network, EBRD said in a press release.
EBRD's loan will be provided under the bank's Green Cities framework which Banja Luka joined in September 2018. The programme is a strategic approach to address environmental and sustainability issues via investments as well as energy and policy measures in the municipal infrastructure.
The Sarajevo Canton, Banja Luka and Zenica have joined EBRD Green Cities so far in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Banja Luka is the second-largest city in Bosnia with population of 200,000.
