The increase is normal for such weather conditions, EPS said in a statement, adding that power production operations are stable and there are no major problems with the country's electricity distribution system.

The state weather institute warned it expects further snow storms on Monday while forecasting lows of around minus 20 degrees Celsius with highs at only around minus 4 degrees through January 2.
