The project in the Varna region is worth an estimated 138.4 million levs and will benefit from 96.8 million levs of EU funding, the ministry said in a statement.
The project envisages the reconstruction of a total of 22.5 km of water supply piping along with construction and reconstruction works on 81 km of the sewerage network and one sewerage pumping station in the Varna region. After successful completion of the project, over 330,000 inhabitants are expected to have improved access to water supply, while water shortages in the region are projected to decrease by about 5%.
The Sliven water utility's project is worth some 133.3 million levs, of which 95.6 million levs to be financed by Operational Programme Environment 2014-2020.
Works in the Sliven region will include rehabilitation, overhaul and construction of 58.2 km of the water supply network and 44.8 km of the sewerage network. The project also envisages the reconstruction of two waste water treatment plants in the region. Over 100,000 inhabitants will benefit from the project.
The project in Varna is expected to be wrapped up within 47 months, while works on the project in Sliven should be completed within 51 months.
