AdWords is Google's advertising platform that offers both cost-per-click and cost-per-impression pricing for advertisements served on Google.com and partner sites.
This partnership will allow Bulgaria's small and medium-sized businesses to easily take advantage of online advertising, Jerome Grateau, Google’s new initiatives manager responsible for the development and the management of the Authorised Google AdWords Reseller programme in Europe, Middle East and Africa, told a news conference.
The AdWords programme was introduced in the U.S. three years ago and has been quite successful. The system debuted in Europe a year ago and Google's aim is to establish partnerships under the programme in all European countries, he added.
“Under the deal Host.bg has the right to manage AdWords advertising on behalf of Bulgarian companies. Our first client is Sony Ericsson Bulgaria,” Host.bg manager Anton Titov told the conference.
In October, U.S. company Yahoo! Inc. set up a partnership with Bulgarian Internet media group Investor.bg.
“The two agreements are targeting different markets. Yahoo targets banner advertising,” Grateau said.
Bulgaria’s Internet advertising market is expected to generate some 20 million levs ($13.18 million/10.28 million euro) in sales revenue by the end of the year, up 80% from 2007.
Last year Bulgarian Internet media and online services company Net Info BG became majority owner of Host.bg.
