The net FDI inflow in January-April, calculated according to the directional principle, was equivalent to 0.7% of Bulgaria's forecast 2024 gross domestic product (GDP), the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) said in a monthly report, citing preliminary data.

Last year, the four-month FDI inflow into Bulgaria represented 2% of the 2023 GDP.

In April alone, Bulgaria recorded a net FDI outflow of 64.3 million euro against 91.7 million euro in the same month of 2023.

Austria accounted for the highest net FDI inflow into Bulgaria in the review period, at 215.4 million euro, followed by Italy and Greece, with direct investments of 200.2 million euro and 98.4 million euro, respectively. By contrast, the highest net outflows were directed to Russia, at 173.5 million euro, and Germany, at 133.1 million euro.
