Euro-Asfalt signed a 2.2 million marka agreement with the Sarajevo canton's transport ministry and Novi Grad municipality for the project's first phase which includes the reconstruction of a 900 metres long street section, the municipal government said in a press release.

The project envisages the reconstruction of 2.3 kilometres of the street.

"The street has two lanes, we plan to widen it to four lanes. With this agreement we have created conditions to launch the reconstruction works," said Semir Efandic, Novi Grad mayor.

Water utility KJKP Vodovod i kanalizacije (VIK) will assist in the removal and installation of the water mains along the street.

The first phase of the project is scheduled for completion in six months.

Local media reported on Monday that the Sarajevo canton's transport ministry and road directorate will provide 5.5 million marka for the project.
