February 29 (SeeNews) - The gross written premiums (GWPs) of Albanian insurers increased to 1.77 billion leks ($18 million/17 million euro) in January, up by 3.62% as compared to the same month in 2023, official figures showed.
Gross written premiums from non-life insurance rose by 3.44% on the year to 1.6 billion leks in January, while the life insurance segment reported an increase of 5.37% in premiums, to 170.6 million leks, the Albanian Financial Supervisory Authority (AFSA) said in a data release on Wednesday.
Total gross claims paid decreased by 8.50% on the year to 607 million leks in January.
In 2023, the gross written premiums of Albanian insurers increased to 22.8 billion leks, up by 8.86% as compared to the previous year, official figures showed last month.
The statistics comprise data from eight insurance companies operating in Albania.
