January 29 (SeeNews) - The gross written premiums of Albanian insurers increased to 22.8 billion leks ($237 million/219 million euro) in 2023, an 8.86% increase from the previous year, official figures showed on Monday.
Gross written premiums from non-life insurance rose by 8.94% on the year to 21 billion leks in 2023, while the life insurance segment reported an increase of 10.31% in premiums, to 1.85 billion leks, the Albanian Financial Supervisory Authority (AFSA) said in a data release.
Total gross claims paid decreased by 1.89% on the year to 6.95 billion leks in 2023.
The statistics comprise data from eight insurance companies operating in Albania.
