February 7 (SeeNews) - Flag carrier Air Serbia could announce the launch of flights connecting Belgrade to Miami, Florida by the end of this year, regional media reported on Wednesday.
“There is always competition if the next destination [in North America] will be Toronto or Miami. Toronto has a large [Serbian] diaspora, but also high seasonality. Miami, on the other hand, is a year-round destination,” news portal EX-YU Aviation quoted Air Serbia CEO Jiri Marek as saying.
“Both destinations are similar in terms of profitability, but we have not made a final decision yet,” said Marek.
In a further sign the airline is leaning towards the U.S. city, Serbia’s president, Aleksandar Vucic, said earlier this week that flights to Miami would be launched soon, EX-YU Aviation added.
The news portal reported last March that Air Serbia was considering the launch of flights to Miami and Toronto, in Canada.
In the United States, Air Serbia currently operates flights from Belgrade to Chicago and New York.
