April 12 (SeeNews) - Montenegro’s state-owned airport operator Aerodromi Crne Gore said its net profit jumped to 9.55 million euro ($10.25 million) last year from 1.43 million euro in 2022.
Revenue rose to 28.9 million euro in 2023 from 21.8 million euro a year earlier, the company said in its financial report submitted with the country's tax administration authority.
Operating costs inched up to 6.47 million euro from 6.41 million euro in the period under review, while costs for workers' wages and benefits increased to 17.9 million euro from 16.5 million euro, the statement read.
The operating profit rose to 10.9 billion euro last year from 3.1 million euro in 2022.
Montenegro's two international airports - in the Adriatic town of Tivat and in the capital Podgorica, handled 2.51 million passengers in 2023, up from 1.92 million a year earlier.
Earlier this month, the government approved an agreement to hire the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private-sector lending arm of the World Bank Group, as an advisor on the second stage of a tender for a 30-year concession to run the country's two airports.
In January, transport minister Filip Radulovic said that Montenegro invited three investors interested to submit their offers. Local newspaper Vijesti quoted prime minister Milojko Spajic as saying they were Aeroports de Paris, Incheon Airports and Corporacion America Airports.
In February, local media quoted Radulovic as saying Montenegro expects the candidates for the airports' concession contract to submit their final offers this summer.
