Zagreb share indices decline in shrinking turnover

October 15 (SeeNews) - The share indices of the Zagreb Stock Exchange (ZSE) lost ground on Thursday, in shrinking trading volumes, bourse data showed.

Tourism company Arena Hospitality Group [ZSE:ARNT] paced the blue-chip decliners, shedding 1.48% to close at 266 kuna, ZSE data showed.

Telecommunication services provider Optima Telekom [ZSE:OPTE] led the blue-chip winners by gaining 0.88% to a close of 4.56 kuna. A day earlier, it paced the losers with a 1.74% price drop.

Four of the ten blue-chip companies on the ZSE fell on Thursday, two rose, three closed flat and one did not trade.

Food producer Podravka [ZSE:PODR] generated the largest single turnover among the blue chips for the day - of 1.1 million kuna, almost a third of Thursday's total, with its stocks gaining 0.22% to close at 450 kuna.

The ZSE's total trading turnover declined to 3.4 million kuna ($525,000/449,000 euro) from 5.0 million kuna on Wednesday.

The bourse's 25-share benchmark CROBEX index fell 0.48% to 1,603.97 on Thursday after edging up 0.04% on Wednesday.

The narrower of the ZSE's two blue-chip indices, the CROBEX10, which tracks the leading companies in terms of free float, market capitalisation and liquidity, dropped 0.28% to 1,003.93 after rising 0.20% on Wednesday.
