The 25-share benchmark CROBEX index of the Zagreb Stock Exchange (ZSE) fell 0.29% to 1,735.23 points after adding 0.62% last Tuesday.
The ZSE was closed from December 24 through 26 for the Christmas holidays.
The narrower of the bourse's two blue-chip indices, the CROBEX10, which tracks the leading companies in terms of free float, market capitalisation and liquidity, was down 0.41% to a close of 998.91.
The CROX index, which tracks the eight most traded stocks on the ZSE and is calculated by the Vienna bourse, lost 0.46% in euro terms to 892.43.
ZSE's total turnover fell to 6.2 million kuna ($987,000/809,000 euro) from 22.2 million kuna on Tuesday.
Diversified holding company Djuro Djakovic [ZSE:DDJH-R-A] generated the session's biggest turnover of 1.12 million kuna, closing down 3.0% at 32.01 kuna.
Shipping company Jadroplov [ZSE:JDPL-R-A] led the CROBEX gainers, rising 7.92% to 109 kuna.
Plastic goods maker AD Plastik [ZSE:ADPL-R-A] paced the CROBEX decliners, sinking 4.55% to 90.20 kuna.
The fixed-income CROBIS index closed up 0.17% at 104.7993 points.
