SARAJEVO (Bosnia and Herzegovina), November 13 (SeeNews) – Global construction materials producer Xella International plans to export a third of the annual output of its factory in Tuzla, in northern Bosnia, which has just undergone a 23 million euro ($34 million) overhaul, local media reported.
The capacity of the former Siporex plant is now 50% greater at 240,000 cubic metres a year, local daily Dnevni Avaz (www.dnevniavaz.ba) reported on Thursday, quoting Claus Steiner, director of Xella Baustoffe Alpe Adria Holding, as saying at the official opening of the factory earlier this week.
The output will be shipped mainly to Croatia, the company official was also quoted as saying.
Xella increased its stake in aerated concrete maker Siporex to 80% following a buyout bid last year.
Before the upgrade, the Tuzla factory also used to manufacture reinforced floor and wall panels and industrial adhesives.
The renovated factory will employ 115 workers and a further 20 will be hired in the next three to five years.
