World Bank grants Bosnia 8 mln euro for Sava waterway project

June 4 (SeeNews) - Bosnia and Herzegovina's ministry of finance and treasury said it has signed a 8 million euro ($8.7 million) grant agreement with the World Bank to finance part of a project for the improvement of the Sava waterway.

This project will enhance flood protection and strengthen cross-border cooperation in the water management of the Sava and Drina corridors, the ministry said in a statement on Monday.

The grant will finance the first phase of the project, which includes demining the right bank of the Sava river.

The grant was approved by the Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF), and will be managed by the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), the statement read.
